Welcome to The Egrets' Class Page
Year 1 & Year 2
Teacher - MISS HANNAH DRABWELL
Teaching Assistant - Mrs Sarah Drew
Kingfishers and Egrets worked together to learn about 'doubling'. They looked at the story of 'The smartest giant'. They measured their own shoes and socks and then doubled the measurements to see how long the giant's feet could be. Afterwards they measured and designed clothes that the giant might be able to wear.
The whole school went to the beach during 'Messy Maths' week for a day of 'Messy Maths'! Egrets used their hands, feet and bodies to take measurements.
Egrets have been learning about the different types of creatures that live in the sea. Can you guess which crustacean Egrets liked the best?
Maya's mummy is a Marine Biologist and works at the university. She came into school to talk to Egrets about some of the different creatures that live in the sea as part of their topic work. The children enjoyed being able to see and touch some of the fascinating objects she brought in.
Willow's mummy is a paramedic. To help the Egrets with their topic work, she came into class to explain all about the work she does.
The children in Egrets held an 'Alien Tea Party'. They all made 'alien' jam sandwiches whilst Josie and Mrs Stanley made green and red 'alien' jelly and 'alien' pepperami pizza. Everyone, including any visiting 'aliens' from 'Planet Zum Zee' had a wonderful time!
