Welcome to the School Council section!
At Aveton Gifford C. of E. (V.C.) Primary School, we are working towards becoming an 'Eco-School'.
Eco-Schools is an international award programme that makes us aware of our environment and ways of improving and looking after it.
Our School Council are the driving force behind Eco-Schools – they have helped carry out an audit to assess the environmental performance of our school. Through consultation with the rest of the school the pupils have decided which environmental themes they want to address and how they are going to do it.
We are currently following a seven-step process to address a variety of environmental themes, ranging from litter and waste to healthy living and biodiversity.
Thanks to the hard work of our school council, we have already achieved the Bronze and Silver Award; we are now working towards gaining the prestigious Green Flag award, which symbolises excellence in the field of environmental activity.
